Forte Oil: The market is finally waking up...

Dear Africa Interested Individuals:
                                                        I wrote an article about Forte Oil on August 4, 2015 on this blog.  You should read or reread it as applicable.  Prior to that article, I had sent an email about the company's Q1 2015 result which was opaque and not fully reflective of the business reality of the company at the time.  The CFO of the company respectfully disagreed with me and the stock declined briefly and then went on a run during the last four months of 2015.  My conviction did not waver.  The price was rising artificially in my opinion.  One day, the price support will end and the price will fall to its equilibrium point as we are witnessing presently.  I believe its landing point should hover around N150.00.  Wish I could short... 

In February, 2016 on this blog under the title: "Passing through the Nigerian market today" I also spoke about the share price of Forte Oil which was at N342.00 on that day.  Since then, the company's stock price has fallen (deservedly so) 43% as at May 3, 2016.  


P.S.  Tigerbrands (based on EVENT DRIVEN) is going to reach at least N5.00 within the next six weeks.  Over 50% in a month...   This is easy money.  

Why?  The companies of Aliko Dangote do not trade below naira's lowest paper currency denomination of N5.00.  Since he took the company back from Tigerbrands, the price has been soaring without the profit sharing the same enthusiasm.  It will not rest until it gets to N5.00 and gets into the territory of Dangote Sugar its immediate older brother.  Do not think too much before the price gets there and you are still thinking.  What's in a name?  Ask the market; I am just an onlooker.

Earnings Quality among African companies: Recurring restatements are not welcome

Dear Africa interested professionals:                                                            When I ponder on earnings quality, it goes beyond the financial performance of the companies as provided to us by their directors.  Are the numbers provided to us possess the qualities of transparency, authenticity and longevity?  Are this year's numbers going to be adjusted (restated) next year with the reality of this already known today?  Do restatements suddenly become an annual recurring act for some companies, just the way financial reports are audited annually? The clamor for continued devaluation of African currencies reeks more and more of selfish interests

Dear Africa Interested Individuals:                                                         The clamor continues for commodities export dependent (especially oil) economies to further devalue their currencies.  I keep asking myself "when is enough finally enough?"  The clamor is largely driven by global economists across the spectrum loyal to economic theory and the countries they are domiciled in, portfolio managers and large commercial banks in the countries of focus with net positive (more dollar inflows expected than dollar outflows) dollar exposures.   What does devaluation do to the people in the countries that have devalued their currencies multiple times (or one devaluation of 20% or more) over a short period? 1. Inflation rises quickly and is driven by those directly and indirectly impacted which is everybody .   2. Chances are high that the Central Bank (Fed in the USA) will have to raise interest rates to stem inflationary pressures in the economy. T
